Smart Power Platform

Convenient, efficient, real-time management of power resources at the enclosure & across the datacenter

IT and Facilities managers are challenged to deliver more complex technologies at higher service levels and under increased financial pressure. With this pressure comes a great opportunity for organizations to maximize efficiencies; however, there are inherent roadblocks with organizational structures (the IT-Facilities gap) and often, system incompatibilities.

Since you can’t manage what you can’t measure, AFCO developed Smart Power to bridge the IT-Facilities gap and deliver a higher level of visibility and control to power resource management. The concept is powerful, the execution seamless: a single-source solution to proactively manage power resources in real time at the enclosure and across the datacenter. The results are dramatic: greater efficiency, a higher level of service, cost control and improved operations.

Smart Power combines the specific power management and reporting capabilities of AFCO’s Resource Manager and our Smart PDU series to create a powerful, proactive data management tool. The platform collects, manages and analyzes critical datacenter matrices, delivers data and intelligence through an intuitive GUI, has the ability to handle advanced trend reporting, and can serve as a mechanism to share this critical data with individuals and systems across the enterprise.

Smart Power helps organizations better manage, model and predict their power consumption. By collecting accurate power consumption directly from the Smart PDU strip, Smart Power delivers real data to track usage over time. The Smart Power platform has additional functionality to similarly manage data on cooling, space and other physical resources critical to the datacenter. The Smart Power Platform supports both the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and HTML.

Smart Power options:

  • Aggregate - For power consumption monitoring locally at the strip level (load/phase).
  • Receptacle - For power consumption monitoring to the individual receptacle.

Power and cooling management can now be extended beyond the datacenter macro level with the functionality to drill down to each cabinet in the datacenter, each power strip and each piece of equipment plugged into the power strip.
