Cold Aisle Containment Solutions are most commonly used for retrofits applications. The installation of an aisle roof usually eliminates the need to modify fire suppression and fits below existing cable trays and power buss bars. Colocation data centers often prefer Cold Aisle containment because it is easy to reconfigure.
Cold Aisle Containment (CAC) deploys aisle door and, in some designs, a roof systems to contain cold supply air for IT equipment. CAC prevents mixing of cold supply air with hot exhaust air and also prevents “short-cycling” a phenomena in which hot exhaust air is pulled back into the intake of IT equipment.
CAC also ensures stable and uniform delivery of cold air all the way to the top of each rack. This supports total utilization of RU space in every rack. CAC is also easier to install as it does not interfere with overhead cable trays.
